Pilates trains the athlete to be dynamically stable while integrating seamlessly into their training protocol. As a Pilates-certified instructor teaching in this professional environment\, there are a variety of important nuances you’ll want to master to ensure optimal success. \nIn this series\, you’ll learn about the relationship between the scientific testing and assessments performed in professional sports and why this process is so critical in setting the foundation for an optimized Pilates training plan. When working with athletes\, efficiency of movement is paramount for success both on the field and in helping to reduce the risk of injury. You will learn how footwork directly relates to harnessing ground reaction forces; the importance and integration of proximal stability (IAP); and insights and impacts of proper kinematic sequencing. \nFinally\, you’ll explore why/how exercise set up is as important as the exercise itself; you’ll develop innovative\, highly effective training progressions; and you’ll learn how to seamlessly incorporate external cuing. \nSeries Registration: PMA Members: $75 / Non-members: $95\nIndividual Workshops: PMA Members: $35 / Non-members: $45\nAttendees of this PMA Educates Workshop Series will receive 4.5 NPCP-CECs. Registrants must attend or view the entire series to receive CECs; CECs will not be provided for individual workshops. This theoretical and embodied experience is focused on giving participants the opportunity to feel and understand the rotator cuff and the deep six lateral rotators of the hip. In this workshop participants review the anatomy of these “rotation stations” in the body and consider how balance and tone in these areas supports increased performance in the Pilates Method. We look at passive mobilization of arm in the shoulder and the leg in the hip. We use small balls to identify and release patterns of tension. We learn the value of isometric activity and examples of isometric\, concentric\, and eccentric activity for both the rotator cuff and the hip. In the second half of the workshop we apply this understanding to a beautiful and flowing class on the rotator discs. The class includes quadruped\, seated\, prone\, plank\, supine\, and standing variations that draw from both classical and contemporary Pilates exercises. Participants are recommended to have a theraband\, a pinkie ball or other small ball\, and a set of rotator discs. \nThe workshop recording will be made available to registered individuals to view after the session and will expire after 72 hours.\nRegistration: PMA Members: $50 / Non-members: $65 \nAttendees of PMA Educates: Rotation Station will receive 3.0 NPCP-CECs. \n\nWorkshop Objectives:\n\nBecome intimately acquainted with the location\, function\, and feeling of firing the rotator cuff and the deep six lateral rotators of the hip.\nLearn satisfying and innovative vocabulary on the rotator discs with takeaways for practitioners at all levels.\nConsider how to progress a client in healing and/or strengthening the rotator cuff and deep six rotators through a variety of functional movement strategies.\n\nClick here to register now!\n\n  \nThis PMA Educates workshop sponsored by OPTP.\nOPTP has expended an offer to PMA Members of $5 off pairs of the OPTP Pro Rotating Discs\nTo purchase\, visit https://www.optp.com/Pro-Rotating-Discs and use the discount code: ROTATION5.  Only valid on SKU #499.
